The IRS8 conference programme (20-22 November 2019) explored the challenges posed by rapid population growth. The programme tackled the innovative and revolutionary sector development being undertaken to address it: from planning a major project to safety, from assessing the value of high-speed rail to increasing urban capacity, from passenger experience to what rail can offer the crowded transport market that other modes cannot.
